The Pittsburgh Pirates open their 2016 spring training schedule on Tuesday, March 1 in Lakeland, FL vs the Detroit Tigers.  McKechnie Field in Bradenton, FL ©WorldsBestDeals.comThe Pirates will then host the Tigers the following day as their Spring Training home opener at McKechnie Field at 1:05 p.m.

The 31-game Florida schedule consists of 16 home games and features the intrasquad "Black and Gold" benefit game on Monday, February 29.

A total of five of Pittsburgh's first seven Spring Training games are scheduled to be played in Bradenton and the club will play two night games at McKechnie Field: Saturday, March 26 against the Tampa Bay Rays and Sunday, March 27 against the Baltimore Orioles (both 6:05 starts).

The McKechnie Field box office will open in January. Hours of operation are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday - Friday, and 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday. The box office is open on all game days starting at 9:00 a.m. and closes 30 minutes after the game.

1/2 mile west of Highway 41 on 9th St. (Bus. 41) at 17th Ave.

Day games start at 1:05 PM and home night games at 6:05 PM
Practices start at 9 a.m. at Bradenton Sports Complex, before exhibitions begin.

From North (St. Petersburg): Go over Skyway Bridge to Exit 2 (19 South). Continue on 41 South. Make a right turn onto 17th Avenue West and continue to McKechnie Field. 
From South: Take Route 41 North to Cortez Road, go straight onto Business 41 and turn right onto 17th Ave. West. Ballpark is located at intersection of 17th Avenue West and 9th Street West. 
From Interstate 75: Exit I-75 at S.R. 64 West (exit 42 if traveling south, exit 42B if traveling north). Go west on Route 64 to 9th Street West and turn left to the ballpark.
